The Festival
Trallallero is a widespread festival across the Gemonese area and the Torre Valleys (Friuli), held in the first half of October each year.
Founded in 2011 by Teatro al Quadrato, it has become an international festival of theatre and culture for new generations since 2019. The festival follows a biennial structure, with odd-numbered years focused on an international showcase and even-numbered years dedicated to training and the local community.
The festival offers a wide-ranging program of performances for audiences aged 0 to 14 (targeting schools and families), complemented by educational events, workshops, reading promotion activities, and outdoor education initiatives, thanks to the collaboration of various project partners.
Trallallero aims to be a space for meeting and sharing, where artists, professionals, programmers, and critics can engage in a constructive environment, with a strong focus on the artistic and creative process. This principle led to the creation of the Criticare ad Arte project, a structured dialogue pathway curated by the MateariuuM collective.
With the Blooming project, we support and give space to new productions, offering tutoring and training projects for companies and individual artists under 35 who are looking to enter or refine their path in the world of theatre for children and youth.
This makes Trallallero particularly attractive to emerging artists working with experimental and innovative languages.
So far, Trallallero has hosted over 80 companies (from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, and abroad),
scheduled more than 140 performances,
organized over 50 training programs for schools or families,
held more than 20 working groups for professionals,
welcomed hundreds of national and international theatre operators,
and attracted several thousand spectators to theatres, halls, and schools in Artegna, Tarcento, Gemona del Friuli, Magnano in Riviera, Montenars, Nimis, Lusevera, and Taipana.
Fortunately, the festival’s journey has gained the support of numerous backers
who have helped us grow and consolidate our work, allowing us to bring many children and young people to the theatre:
from the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia to the Mountain Communities of Gemonese and Natisone and Torre,
from the Friuli Foundation to the Pietro Pittini Foundation,
to the MiC-Ministry of Culture, through the Boarding Pass Plus call with the Chain Reaction network project,
and the Municipalities of Artegna, Tarcento, and Gemona del Friuli.
Our credibility lies in the awareness of the intimacy of the event, as well as in the potentials that it expresses.
is the idea of culture and territory that we want to pass on to the new generations;
uses the language of the theatre and contemporary art to involve the new generations and make them become aware protagonists of the cultural evolution process in our land;
is a space for meeting and exchanging views at a walking pace;
is a sustainable international development project that allows a territory, its artistic production, and its professionals, to be trained, to present themselves and to get international qualifications.
